The Ember has gone cold, and the Hush is spreading through the ashlands.
You wake with a spark of it inside you, and the town of Emberhold needs someone who can still burn.
EMBERBOUND is a 3D action RPG with real-time combat, a hand-built world and companions you fight beside, grow close to and bond with.
Explore ashen wastes, drowned fens, burning villages and a dungeon under the Hush. Forge and enchant your gear, travel by portal scroll, and bring your kindred home.
Version 0.5.0 contains chapter 1 and chapter 2. Chapter 2 ends at the Crown Seal.
Romance and bonds with your companions are at the heart of it. Sharing is always your choice: the game asks first, saying no means it never happens, and you can switch it off entirely in Settings > Content.
- Chapter 2: the story goes on after the First Waystone, through Deepmere Fen, the Sunken Archive, Bonewake and Hush Hollow, down to the Crown Seal.
- Two new companions: Maren of the Deepmere (healer) and Saela, Moth of the Archive (scout). Companion quests are main quests, with the guide arrow.
- Seven new adult scenes, each with a yes/no question first: two rites each with Vess, Maren and Saela, and Nyra’s last night. Inside a scene you pick what happens next from a menu, Back goes one step back, and every finish has its own ending. You can stop at any point.
- Rites happen at her place: she invites you, and you travel there together (Vess’ smithy, Maren’s fen, Saela at Cinder Village).
- The siege of Emberhold: hold the town wave by wave, with Kit fighting on the flank.
- Two new dreams with Elyra, and a quiet evening at the bathhouse with Maren.
- Companions and allies now fight at your level.
- Chapter 2 scenes unlock in the Gallery in the main menu, like chapter 1.
- A few short voiced lines in the adult scenes.
- Much faster loading on Windows: the game now ships with its DirectX 12 shaders, so the first start no longer compiles everything on your PC.
- Fixed the long freeze when you leave the bedroom for Emberhold, and loading screens no longer wait several seconds for nothing after an indoor area.
- Windows now starts on DirectX 12. If the game crashes on start, the next launch switches to a safer renderer by itself.
- New Minimum graphics preset, picked automatically on weak graphics cards.
- Less stutter: the main menu no longer lags, and the first use of a skill hitches far less.
- Content preferences: choose Ask first or Off for Sharing & group and Rough content (Settings > Content). Off removes that choice, and the story goes the other way.
- Every adult scene asks first, Elyra’s dream included. Saying no to Nyra now means it doesn’t happen: she leaves the General’s table.
- Vess’ scene has clearer choices and a gentler ending you can pick.
- Bryga is now her full eight feet, and her hair and chest no longer stretch in combat.
- Inventory sort text is readable on hover, the quest header is cleaned up, and tutorials and hints can be switched off in Settings > Interface.
- Smaller download (.7z option).
- New Discord invite.
