:
HawkesWorth University is a text-based RPG sandbox set in a late ’90s/early 2000s college town. It’s a love letter to Bully, so expect an arcadey campus sandbox rather than a strict life sim. Mostly it’s about choice with the world reacting to your decisions, sometimes in ways you won’t expect.

The game is still actively in development and a lot of features are still being fleshed out but most are already in place, to some capacity at least. While there is no concrete roadmap for development, there are some pillars on which it stands:
– A campus and town that run on their own clock, with classes, jobs, factions, and NPCs who keep their own schedules
– Stat-driven checks on just about everything, so charm, brains, and brawn all open different doors
– NPC Relationships that build over time, from flirting to a whole lot more
– A trouble meter, prefects, faculty, and consequences that actually stick
– Story characters with full arcs that can bend your playthrough in very different directions
If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, stick around. I’d love to have you be part of this journey. Cheers!

Weekly Pressure
- Rentgoes in the rent box in the common room by Friday at 6pm. Miss it and the warden padlocks your door. You can still sleep on the common room couch, or in your own bed after some work with a lockpick.
- Stolen possessions. Sleeping on the couch could have you wake up missing something. The thief is on campus and you’ll probably come across them wearing whatever it is that was stolen. It does eventually turn up in lost property at the Dean’s reception, maybe not in the best condition though.
- Collection day. Every Wednesday, Russel waits in the locker hallway for his dues. Dodge him and he comes looking on Thursday and Friday for more. Still dodge him and he holds a grudge, which raises the price every week after.
- The kitchen job.Dolores, the head cook, is hiring. Pick a weekly rota of up to five shifts across breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast pays least, lunch pays best per hour, and dinner pays most in total. Lunch clashes with a lecture slot, so you choose between the grade and the money. Missing a rostered shift or getting caught doing something you shouldn’t is a strike, and three strikes gets you fired. You can ask for your job back a week later.
- Start a food fight in the cafeteria and the kitchen shuts for a few hours.
- A week card in the Journal tracks rent, dues and your shifts.
Rumours
- People talk. If someone sees you do something (being indecent in public, public sex, stealing, starting fights, snooping where you shouldn’t), a story starts. It spreads overnight through cliques, dorm wings, staff and town, and fades if nothing keeps it going. Partners may kiss and tell. You can own it, deny it, let it go, or blame someone else.
- The world reacts. What people have heard affects how they treat you, including socialising and flirting.
- Ask your friends. Friends can tell you what’s being said and who they heard it from. Close friends can help set the record straight once a week.
- A Talk tab in the Journal lists what you’ve heard said about you, and the stories you’ve started about other people.
NPC Wants and Secrets
- Everyone wants something and hides something. It might be an item, a rival taken down a notch, or something a bully stole back. The secret might be a stash, a stolen answer key, a kink, or a crush (sometimes on you). Friends tell you what they want, and close friends may tell you what they’re hiding.
- Doing someone a favour pays cash and earns their affection. They might also tell you their secret afterwards. Whether they do depends on how close you are and on their personality.
- Using a secret. Use it for blackmail, favours or hold onto it for later. Spread it around campus. Sell it to Russel. Or hand proof in at the Dean’s office or to a prefect.
- Consequences. People find out who spread their secret and hold a grudge. Turning someone in starts a story about them. Staff who hear enough about a stash will search the locker. Keeping a secret quiet for a week gets noticed, and earns you a bit of goodwill.
- Knowing someone’s kink means they enjoy sex with you more, and even more if you give them what they’re into (kinks are still undercooked though).
Classes and Semesters
- Semesters. Each season you enrol in courses and attend lectures for four weeks, followed by a one-week break. There are eleven courses, and lecturers swap what they teach every semester.
- Lectures fill a progress bar for each course, and how much depends on how you spend them: actively engaging, listening, or lazing. Things happen mid-lecture too: getting called on, notes being passed around. Turn up late and the lecturer might send you away and lock you out until the lecture’s over.
- Wrapping up a term. Visit any of your lecturers in office hours to get your grades. You can argue the worst grade that lecturer gave you, but lecturers remember being argued with. If you never show up, the school wraps it up for you, one grade lower across the board. Your results go on a transcript.
- Perks. Spend the course points you earned during the break, in the course that earned them. Live now: Talk Down, Silver Tongue, Pressure Points, Pecking Order, Ends Justify Means, Know Your Rights and Haggle. More will be coming soon.
Clothing and Weather
- Clothing overhaul. A much bigger catalogue, wear them in layers and some garments can be worn more than one way, like a jacket left open or done up in a new outfit screen. Some garments can be worn more than one way, like a jacket left open or done up.
- Clothes shops in town, each stocking its own range, with fresh stock every day.
- Knock-offs. A fake designer label gets the same reactions as the real thing until a snob takes a closer look.
- Reactions. People notice what you wear and react according to their personality.
- Gender presentation from clothing.
- Weather. Rain, wind and temperature change through the day and the year. The common room TV has a forecast and suggests how warmly to dress. Dressing wrong for the weather tires you out faster.
- Getting wet. Rain can soak your clothes. Pale fabrics go see-through and some clothes cling, which can leave you indecent in public.
- Indecency. Going out in public with your chest or anything below the waist on show is now a violation.
Fluster, Stress and Kinks
- Fluster and stress. Doing things you aren’t ready for, like going out in something more daring than you’re comfortable with, fills your fluster meter. When fluster fills up, it spills over into stress. A full meter gives you a status that gets in your way until it cools off. How much an act costs depends on your Disinhibition.
- Kinks. Exhibition is the first one. You earn it by being on show, and each level makes being seen less mortifying and more of a thrill. Higher levels require your Disinhibition to match.
- Partner climaxing in sex was rebalanced.
Fights and Trouble
- Detention. Getting caught in a fight can land you in detention for a few hours.
- Fake surrender. Offer to surrender, then hit them while their guard is down. You can only do this once per fight, and nobody in that fight will accept your terms after.
- Weapon intimidation. Pull a weapon from Use Item to intimidate someone. You don’t need Guts and it’s easier, but brandishing a weapon gets you in trouble straight away and starts a story.
- Hand goods in to a prefect.
Lockpicking
- Lockpicking is now a word puzzle. Every lock is set to a word, and you get six guesses at it, like Wordle. The words are all filthy. Longer words make better locks. Spend Insight to rule out letters or reveal one. A lock keeps its word until it’s opened, so you can walk away and pick up where you left off.
- Lockpicks wear out. A pick lasts three failed or abandoned locks. A lock you open costs it nothing.
Other Improvements and Fixes
- Cheats are now only in the Backer’s Edition. The public build no longer has the cheat menu.
- Currency is now dollars. Gillies are gone, and prices are in whole dollars.
- Tiredness affects more than your bed. Being tired means you learn less in lectures, rolls are harder, and things tend to go wrong at work.
- Food portions. Food is eaten a bite or a spoonful at a time.
- Inventory now lists items one by one instead of in stacks.
- The screen now fades out when you sleep to settle background simulations.
- More hotkeys, covering Journal and Profile tabs, the closet, shops and the weather screen.
- Journal dates now use the game’s calendar instead of real-world dates.
- Disabled buttons now properly show as greyed out.
- Popups for stats, characters and character creation have an improved fit on phones, and Escape only closes the top one.
- Fixed a crash in the shower masturbation scene.
- Fixed shop stock changing every time you opened the shop.
- Fixed “A Random Door” sometimes being your own room.
- Fixed mid-sentence capitalisation in ambient text (“…and A girl with a bob”).
- Fixed characters not showing up in the scenes they’re in.
- Fixed active events not being saved and loaded properly.
