They hide in an abandoned temple, ruled by an undead.
He kills it and takes its sword.

Her name is Gale, she’s a demon bound in the blade, and she can only go free if her wielder willingly kills himself with her. She has been gently working on this problem for five hundred years. She is also extremely opinionated about which women Konall talks to.

The setting is Kemet: city-states, one god each, half of them under occupation by the snake-worshipping theocracy of Stygia. There’s Per-Bast (cats, trade, currently conquered), Per-Isys (gardens, river, harvest), Per-Athor (love, pleasure, and a crime rate to match), and Per-Amon (walls, and the war god behind them). Kush in the southern jungle, Atlantis trading in from the north & Kêr-Is and its dolmens.

It’s a Visual Novel and an RPG at once. Half of it is reading, choosing, and saying something stupid to a woman with a spear. The other half is walking the map into cities, ruins, castles and dungeons and settling things with pixel-art turn-based combat.

And yes, there are six women each gets her own post soon, so, quickly:

Neferketi: the princess. Spoiled, vengeful, manipulative, will absolutely weaponise you.
Gale: wants you dead by her blade specifically, and by nobody else’s. Deeply protective. Furiously jealous.
Echidna: Stygian defector with a crippling fear of snakes, which in Stygia is a career-limiting trait.
Achaia: Atlantean priestess of Hecate chasing a prophecy about a champion. Unfortunately for everyone, it’s you.
Khetari: half-felys thief. Hates nobles and priests. Guess what Neferketi is.
Aminata: Kushite warrior in exile. You save her; she pledges her spear to you.

Neferketi and Gale are always along for the ride. Of the other four, you only get two per playthrough. Choose your barbarian adventure.
