The main character of this game is a 20-year-old man named Tom. He was an orphan and was fortunate enough to be adopted by a middle-class family, Mr. and Mrs. Cruz, when he was just 3 months old. After officially adopting Tom, Mrs. Cruz took a pregnancy test, and the result was positive! The couple was overjoyed and very grateful to Tom because he was a lucky child. That’s when Tom gained a childhood friend named Pauline. Even though they are not connected by blood, Tom can find happiness in having a complete family to call his own.

The couple loves Tom and Pauline equally, and Tom is grateful to them for giving him another chance at life. Nevertheless, Tom is driven by a desire to uncover the origins of his biological family, to learn if they are still alive, and to find out whether he has any siblings. Determined to find them, he embarks on the search, even though he has no idea where to begin. Meanwhile, he juggles his quest with the need to continue his studies and secure a part-time job. This way, he won’t have to rely on Mr. and Mrs. Cruz for money. Simultaneously, Tom desires independence, now that he has reached legal age.

Mrs. Cruz may not have liked the idea initially, but she eventually realizes that Tom is an adult who needs to live on his own.

How to Transfer Your Save from Chapter 1 → Chapter 2

To properly continue your story with all your choices, relationship points, and progress intact, always use the special save created at the end of each chapter.

Method 1: Online Sync (Recommended)
Step 1: Reach the End of Chapter 1

Play until you see the message: “Save now!”
Open the Save menu and create a new save file. This is the only save you should transfer.

Step 2: Upload the Chapter 1 Save

Still in the Save screen, look for the Upload Sync button (usually at the bottom).
Click it and confirm.
Wait until the upload finishes. You will receive a 10-character Sync Code.
Write the code down or copy it carefully. Do not close the game until the upload is complete.

Note: The code is valid for 1 day (24 hours) on the official Ren’Py Sync server.

Step 3: Open Chapter 2

Launch Independent Horizons – Chapter 2.

Step 4: DL the Save

Go to the Load screen.
Click the Download Sync button.
Enter the 10-character code you received.
Wait until the download finishes.

Step 5: Load Your Transferred Save

Open the Load menu and select the Chapter 1 save you just downloaded. The game will continue into Chapter 2 with all your previous choices and progress.

Method 2: Manual Copy-Paste (No Server Needed)

If you prefer not to use the online sync:

Locate the save folder of Chapter 1 (usually something like %appdata%RenPy[GameName]saves on Mac or ~[GameName]gamesaves on Windows).
Copy the save files you want.
Paste them into the corresponding save folder of Chapter 2.

Chapter 1 – v1.0.1

Before the game starts, an explanation of points is provided.

Remade some images in the intro (the MC’s height was increased and he looks older than before); this isn’t finished yet, but I’ll continue to remake them from time to time.

Added some variable points (for example: if Pauline chooses to kiss Mr. Cruz on the cheek, you won’t see any future options related to the other choice).

Fixed the final part where there’s an instruction to save the game for Chapter 2.

Error during the massage. MC should be mc. But you can skip this by just ignoring it beside the rollback button. But it is now fixed.

During the scene with the librarian and the MC checking the hole, there was an ‘End of Replay‘ button at the bottom of the screen that wasn’t supposed to be there, and you couldn’t open the phone. This issue is now fixed.

Download the update to fix the errors: script.rpa (if your version is already v0.5.2, you don’t need to download this, this is only for v0.5.1)– Just copy and paste and replace it into your game folder. If you encounter any errors, please message me. Thank you, playf100, for reporting it. I made some changes in v0.5.1 that I didn’t include in the changelog, as they were only minor adjustments, but cause an errors in that scene.

Typos: The image doesn’t match the narration. For example, the narration says Ella is holding her chin, but the image doesn’t show it.

Phrases: As you played the game, the early version was full of narration, and some of it was unnecessary. So, I decided to convert some parts into dialogues and rephrase others into simpler, more informal wording. From time to time, I still go back to the early version to make further edits.

There’s a mistake when you’re in the room with Eula. The part where she plays the guitar. Instead of writing “Eula”, it says “Mrs. Emily” throughout the passage. It takes place after the first visit to the massage parlor.
The second is when we go to the massage parlor for the second time. During the dialogue with Mrs. Lilly. He calls her “Mrs. Emily” instead of “Mrs. Lilly”.

2. This game is story-driven and choice-based, with a stronger focus on the story and the development of its characters. So, if you’re looking for a fuckfest with no relationship building, very little character development, and little emotional attachment, then this game probably isn’t for you.
